Perimenopause and menopause is not a transition you need to make alone and you do not need to learn to live with these symptoms.

Most women will experience some form of hormonal imbalance and symptoms from midlife as we enter perimenopause and eventually menopause.

In fact, things start to change in our bodies from about the age of 35, however it is normally at some point in our 40’s that a lot of us ladies notice some of the common symptoms of our hormones seesawing, fluctuating and declining.

I myself started noticing changes when I was about 43 years old. My periods, that I used to sail through, started seriously kicking my bum. I had aching breasts, my joints ached making me feel about 100 years old. I was getting regular headaches for the first time ever, I was getting UTI’s and if I said I was having hot sweats that would be a bit of a stretch. But I was starting to get warm sweats at night.

Although I was eating pretty healthily before, I made some small but impactful tweaks to my lifestyle, mindset and nutrition which saw those symptoms retreat completely.

HRT will help (if not completely alleviate) these symptoms, however some women do not want to take or cannot take HRT. For these women changes to nutrition and lifestyle are especially crucial.

Even for those ladies on HRT their oestrogen levels will be nowhere near what they were in their 20’s and 30’s so nutrition and lifestyle tweaks are essential if you are going to thrive in midlife and onwards.
